Glossary

A

Agent A lightweight binary process installed on your database server that executes backup jobs, uploads backup files to your storage, and reports status to the control plane API.

Agent Token A signed JWT used by the agent to authenticate with the jokowipe.id API. Tokens are generated in the dashboard and stored in the agent's configuration file.

Anomaly An unusual backup pattern detected by the AI anomaly detection system. Examples include a sudden drop in backup size, unusually long backup duration, or consecutive failures.

API Key A secret token used to authenticate programmatic access to the jokowipe.id REST API.

B

Backup A point-in-time snapshot of a database, created by running a native database tool (pg_dump, mysqldump, etc.) and storing the output in a storage target.

Backup Job A single execution of a backup operation. Associated with an agent, database, and storage target.

Baseline The statistical historical average for a backup metric (size, duration, etc.) computed from the last 30 days of successful backups. Used by the anomaly detection system.

BYOS (Bring Your Own Storage) jokowipe.id's model where backup files are stored in your own cloud storage bucket (S3, GCS, R2, etc.) rather than on jokowipe.id's servers.

C

Checksum A SHA-256 hash of the backup file, computed after download and verified on restore to detect corruption.

Control Plane The jokowipe.id cloud API and dashboard — the management layer that orchestrates backup jobs and stores metadata. Distinct from the data plane (your backups).

Cron Expression A string that defines a recurring schedule. Format: minute hour day-of-month month day-of-week. Example: 0 2 * * * = "every day at 2:00 AM".

D

Data Plane Your backup files and storage. The data plane is entirely within your infrastructure — jokowipe.id never touches it.

H

Heartbeat A regular status update sent by the agent to the API (every 30 seconds by default). Used to determine if an agent is online.

Hooks (Pre/Post) Shell scripts that run before or after each backup job. Useful for custom checks, notifications, or cleanup tasks.

L

Long-Polling The technique used by agents to receive backup jobs from the API without requiring inbound network connections. The agent holds an open HTTP request until a job is available (up to 30 seconds).

M

mTLS (Mutual TLS) A security protocol where both the client (agent) and server present certificates for authentication. Available for enterprise deployments.

Multi-Tenancy The ability to serve multiple organizations (tenants) from the same infrastructure, with strict data isolation between them.

O

Organization The top-level account entity in jokowipe.id. All resources (agents, schedules, backups, storage targets) belong to an organization.

P

Policy (Retention Policy) Rules that define how long backup files are kept. Can be count-based (keep last N), age-based (keep for N days), or combined.

R

Restore The process of downloading a backup file and applying it to a database to recover data.

Retention How long backup files are kept before being automatically deleted. Configurable per schedule.

S

Schedule A configuration that defines when and how backups run automatically. Uses cron expressions or interval syntax.

Storage Target A configured cloud storage bucket or local path where backup files are stored.

W

Webhook An HTTP callback triggered by events in jokowipe.id (backup success, failure, anomaly detected, etc.). Used to integrate with external systems.

Z

Z-Score A statistical measure of how many standard deviations a value is from the mean. Used by the anomaly detection system to quantify deviation from baseline. A Z-score of ±2 is the default anomaly threshold.
