Checking Your Current Version

Check if a newer version is available:

Upgrade Methods

Automatic (Recommended)

Enable automatic upgrades in the config:

agent:

The agent downloads and verifies the new binary, then performs a graceful restart.

Manual Upgrade via Install Script

# This upgrades in-place
curl -fsSL https://get.jokowipe.id/install.sh | bash

Manual Upgrade (apt)

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade jokowipe-agent
sudo systemctl restart jokowipe-agent

Manual Upgrade (rpm)

sudo yum update jokowipe-agent
sudo systemctl restart jokowipe-agent

Manual Upgrade (Binary)

# Download new binary
curl -fsSL https://packages.jokowipe.id/releases/v1.2.0/jokowipe-agent-linux-amd64 \
  -o jokowipe-agent-new

# Verify signature

# Make executable and replace

Zero-Downtime Upgrade

The agent supports graceful shutdown — it completes any in-progress backup jobs before stopping. When upgrading:

1. The installer signals the running agent to stop
2. The agent completes the current job (if any)
3. The agent exits cleanly
4. The new version starts
5. Jobs scheduled during the downtime are dispatched immediately

For multiple agents, upgrade them one at a time to ensure continuous backup coverage.

Rollback

If you need to roll back to a previous version:

# List installed versions (if using apt)
apt-cache showpkg jokowipe-agent | grep "1\."

# Install a specific version
sudo apt-get install jokowipe-agent=1.1.0
sudo systemctl restart jokowipe-agent

Or download a specific binary:

curl -fsSL https://packages.jokowipe.id/releases/v1.1.0/jokowipe-agent-linux-amd64 \
  -o /usr/local/bin/jokowipe-agent
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/jokowipe-agent
sudo systemctl restart jokowipe-agent

Running an outdated agent may result in missing features or broken compatibility with the API. We recommend enabling automatic upgrades or upgrading monthly.
